Another very busy week at The Motto Shoppe

It was another very busy and productive week here at The Motto Shoppe. I stitched two mottoes for seems like the harder mottoes are the ones that they would like me to stitch and I understand. Some do take longer to stitch and have more detail.
The first was Give Us this day our Daily Bread. This pattern is one I reproduced from an antique I had in my collection. I buy and sell the antiques all the time. Once I realized I had too many....the walls were full....several closets were was time to sell some of them so others could enjoy them. is the motto in one of our fancy frames with the fretwork all around. My son makes these and I carve The corner leaves.
And then I stitched another one on brown paper...didn't I just say I wasn't going to do another one??? I have stitched 3 on brown paper in 6 weeks and just gave a quote for another today. It is much harder to see the pattern on the dark paper and rough on the eyes. You need good lighting when stitching on the darker paper. This is my Home Sweet Home. A nice companion motto to the Scatter Smiles on brown paper.
And now I am headed back to carving frames and corner leaves for 6 frames. Floss?? Still on the back burner but I will do a marathon dyeing session soon and have it completed.
Don't forget to sign up for the big drawing tomorrow for your choice of gift boxes of floss. Several colors to choose from.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a nice day.

A very productive week of stitching

It was a very productive week of stitching to say the least. I had 4 orders for stitched mottoes and I am happy (my sore hands are happy too) that they are stitched, framed and in the mail.
I snapped a few photos before I put them in the frames. It is so difficult to fight with the glare from the glass.

The only difficult one was the dark brown paper since it is harder to see the pattern on the brown. That is also one of my favorites. I keep saying I am going to keep the next one I stitch and hang it on my wall.
I also received a motto I had sent out to a model stitcher...thanks so much Sue!! I had her stitch this on my darker golden parchment linen. I will be hanging it next to some antique mottoes with dark paper and for me, the darker linen looked better. She did an excellent job for me once again.
The Stitching Parlour. I will put it in one of my hand carved frames.
I have more linen to dye for a customer and then I will get back to dyeing floss. It seems like it has been put on the back burner for quite a while but orders have to come first.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend.

80 skeins, 1600 yards of floss set

The Complete 1795 Floss Collection has 80 skeins, 20 yards each. 1600 yards of floss! I will be phasing this out and I only have two sets left if anyone is interested. Pictured at the right, a great selection of colors. I will still have singles of a lot of the colors until they are sold out as I am not reproducing them since I will have the new line of repeat (stock) colors this year.
I simply need to make room for all the new floss colors. I gave away (donated) a lot of floss recently of the smaller amounts of the single colors. You can't imagine how large of an area it takes to display and store each color. Some of you have asked for pictures of my display but it is going to be a couple more weeks before it is all put together. Each time I get back to work on the floss I get more orders for stitched and framed mottoes. Once again I got 2 orders yesterday so I will be carving frames today and stitching mottoes for a couple days. I am always amazed at the number of people who admire the mottoes but have never taken a stitch of any type. I guess we all figure that each of us learned as young girls to do a little simple embroidery, crochet or something similar. I remember one Christmas when I was 5 my Mother gave me the little metal loom kit to make pot holders with all the colorful stretch loops. Do you remember those looms? I believe they are still selling them but they are now plastic. Anyways....I sat and made pot holders until the entire package was empty! Then I went on to all kinds of needlework and crafts. I was 10 when my grandmother gave me two needlepoint pictures with ornate oval frames. The flowers were finished in the middle and you simply filled in the background with the continental stitch. My stitches were not perfect but I still have the pictures displayed on my wall. I think we all cherish things we saved from when we were little....I am a pack rat that saves everything. I have other cherished items that I will share with you another time....another story.

So back to work......then back to dyeing floss for the new line.
And be sure you have signed up for the next two give-aways, the Rainbow Floss boxed set will be on the 25th and the 28th will be for the pick your favorite color box of floss.
Have a great week.
